Ways to support your child’s fluency at home:
· Read and practice syllables of the week (review previous syllables)
· Read and practice high frequency words (flash cards) until your child can read the words “instantly”
· Re-read difficult passages several times until it sounds smooth (words, sentences, pages) This may take several reading sessions during the course of the week.
· Read a variety of materials in Spanish
· Check out Spanish books from the public library
· Re-read previous stories and current books
click on Leveled Reader Database
user name: database
password: database1
· Listen and read audio versions of other Spanish stories on-line like via the Grade 1 website at http://rsi.rdale.org (click on Grade Level pages on blue tool bar on left side)
click on Tumble books--After the page opens, change the language preference to “Spanish” and your child should know how to do the rest
· Practice with the audio/video components on the RSI Grade 1 website at http://rsi.rdale.org (click on Grade Level pages on blue tool bar on left side)
Thank you for supporting your child in reading!
Sincerely,
Sra. Christy Michelli
